The concept of GCN membership is based on the spirit of sharing synergies and experiences among the members. The GCN Members sensitizes and creates awareness among the members on the various issues on the Rights of the girl child. They provide a voice for the girl child through lobbying and advocacy activities. In their own capacity as members, they undertake various interventions aimed at improving the welfare of the girls in Kenya. They also carry out training and capacity building programmes for their members at various levels.

GCN has five(5) functional chapters distributed in the regions of Kenya. This includes Mt. Kenya, Western Kenya, Coast, Rift valley and Nairobi chapters.

Nairobi Chapter
The chapter is divided into nine (9) divisions which include Makadara, Lang’ata, Kasarani, Embakasi, Dagoretti, Kamukunji, Mathare, Westlands and Kajiado. The sub divisions of the chapter are further divided into sub-divisions committees that works on the implementation of the agreed upon action plans. The committees within the chapter are actively involved in the various initiatives by the GCN secretariat.

Mt Kenya Chapter
The Chapter continues to have a strong committee and has approved their Chapter specific Constitution. The chapter continues to get support from the Constituency Aids Control Committee and the Provincial Administration to implement their projects.

The chapter, has undertaken several rescue missions through the networks and memberships. Among the key partners of the chapter are the Children’s department, the Police, the Probation office, the Scouts Association, the Provincial General hospital and the children’s homes. All these partners worked together to build capacities of children and adults from the different parts of the chapter.

Western Kenya Chapter
The chapter works very closely with the Western Region office of Kenya Alliance for the Advancement of Children (KAACR) in ensuring that the rights of children are protected. There are strong collaboration made with the Municipal Council and the business community towards enhancing the role of children. The chapter is actively involved in the planning of the Day of the African Child.

Coast Chapter
The chapter managed to have elections for new officials after the term of the previous officials elapsed. The chapter’s activities benefited a lot due to the strong collaboration between the chapter members and the Children’s office in Coast province.

The Rift Valley Chapter
This is a new chapter that will cater for the rift valley province which is the largest province in Kenya.
