Policy influencing
The network is involved in various processes of policy influencing both as campaigns and also as organizational initiatives.
Currently the network is involved in the following policy influencing work:
- The Sanitary Towels Campaign (spearheaded by GCN)
- The Sexual Offences Bill (Spearheaded by The Cradle)
- The National Gender & Education policy (Spearheaded by GCN)
- Affirmative Action
Information sharing
The network has continued to facilitate exchange of information through various avenues such as
- Bi-monthly meetings
- Binti Newsletter
- Annual General Meeting
- Monitoring events and activities with members
Capacity building
GCN undertakes capacity building for members and children in the following areas:
- Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS
- Children rights & Human Rights
- Gender Based Violence
- Child Rights Clubs in primary schools
- Lobbying and advocacy
- Guidance and counselling
- Leadership development for young girls
- National Children’s conferences
- Education, Policy and Research
- Diversion Project (This is a project that diverts children in conflict with the law).
- Stop Violence Against Girls in School

GCN continues to assist members technically in the following areas
- Proposal writing
- Resource mobilization (donations by members or corporate to the homes)
- Project planning and management
- Lobbying for various specific issues
- Referral of children
